Any media that's existed for this long and had so many people add to the “canon” will be full of plot holes. How many movies, shows, books, comics, cartoons, video games have been made? All by different people, no less. Trying to make new Star Wars is like trying to add a piece to an already finished puzzle. Heck, even the original trilogy had plot holes! Why did the Empire scan C3P0 and R2D2's escape pod for life forms, but not the Millennium Falcon where Luke and the gang were hiding? Darth Vader tortures Leia for days and never realizes she's his daughter, but manages to sense Luke is his son after a 15 minute sword fight? When Luke knows Vader is his father and the ghost of Obi-Wan later admits to not telling him, why didn't he then reveal Leia was also his sister? Why does Obi-Wan call Darth Vader “Darth” as if it's his first name? Luke is raised by his aunt and uncle, but grieves more for the wizard hermit he just met. The whole “Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs” comment by Han made so little sense, an entire movie was seemingly made just to try and plug that plot hole. (And honestly, it still doesn't make sense even with that context)
